This video opens with ‘Magic’ sailing on a broad reach at just under 10kts. The mainsheet is tensioned firmly to keep the leech straight, but the traveler is let fully out … an efficient way to sail when stability permits it. About 1/3rd the way through this video, there’s a shot of the sails and ‘a tour’ of the rotating wingmast. A view of the important leeward side shows the wingmast surface nearly parallel to the sailcloth and this greatly helps to keep airspeed clean and high, so that local pressure is dropped to increase lift. For the latter half, the boat speed eases to about 8k – still sailed solo, and by sliding back to the aft beam, the camera gives a good view of the whole cockpit and foredeck.
